LOL Jim ... sometimes a picture truly IS worth a thousand words. :-) These photos are great, and were even better when I read your very brief comment on each page. Welcome Jim. :-) Found this link about the Selkies legends on Wiki, and thought this one part was particularly interesting, regarding it's origins.

Theories of origins:

One folklorist theory of the origin of the belief is that the selkies were actually fur-clad Finns, traveling by kayak.
